Rainier Beach to retire Nate Robinson’s jersey

Written by Benjamin Bonython on September 7, 2010.

Rainier Beach is going to retire Nate Robinson’s jersey during an assembly at the school from 11 a.m.-noon on Friday.

During Robinson’s senior season with the Vikings in 2002 he averaged 17.9 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and three steals a game, leading the team to a Class 3A state championship. Rainier Beach finished the year with a 28-1 record.

After a standout stint at the University of Washington, Robinson move on to NBA and currently plays for the Boston Celtics. The two-time winner of the NBA’s dunk contest lives in Seattle during the offseason and spends a lot of time in the community with his Seattle basketball brethren.
